Company is requiring me to take "company days" not specified in the contract

2021.10.27 13:52 dap312 Company is requiring me to take "company days" not specified in the contract

I have been working with company for a few months now. Recently I was told I have to take 9 compulsory holidays at Christmas. My contract states that 3 days of my holiday entitlement are "company days".
I suppose my legal question is do I have to take these days ?
I also would appreciate your opinion/advice on the situation as I'm not long out of university and new to the corporate world. This seems a little shady to me.

2021.10.27 13:52 highnoonmidnight once tried to bargain at work, ended up begging.

I went from producing food to going hungry.
I experience wage disparity and gender discrimination at every job I work.
Over a year ago I was working with a less experienced man, who disclosed that he was getting paid more than his very experienced lady coworkers (me being one of them). It was an incredibly physically demanding job and I was a strong valuable worker. Once I found out about pay discrepancy, I started trying to understand the pay scale and checked in with my comrades. Some coworkers shared their income with no hesitation. Two others either told me it was --illegal-- for me to ask that, or ghosted me. It ruined my work relationships when I started the bargaining process for higher wages- for all of us. I put myself on the line for everyone I worked with, and no one was by my side. No one wanted to be associated with me once the boss was involved.
I had the most to lose and everyone knew it. Fucking traitors.
Ultimately it resulted in a one-woman union wherein I went on strike- no one could fill my position- I demanded higher wages, and essentially after holding strong in the meetings, was against a wall and had to grovel and beg for my competency to be noticed and to keep my job. The slap in the face was- as a manger for an incredibly physical job- I still only made $14.50 --after the raise-- even though I demanded $15. I could barely meet my basic needs working 40+hours on $13.50.
I was exhausted, destroying my body. My mental state deteriorated quickly. I was depressed and anxious all of the time. The stress was making me sick. I gave my heart and soul to that business and was completely fucked over. I was later fired for "workplace dispute" that was basically fabricated to ensure I was denied benefits. He fired me to make his job easier. Hire a scab, forget this ever happened. At-will employment and exempt worker status is the nail in the coffin for me. I was not eligible for unemployment because of this retaliation. I pulled myself up by my bootstraps *sarcasm* and started begging for help because it was winter and the pandemic was raging and the government wouldn't help me. I was left hungry and desperate.
One of the more depressing things was watching all the fast food restaurants raise their wages to $14-15/ hr for base pay. I almost cried when I saw that people at Taco Bell were now making more than I made at a job where I made use of my college degree and managed part of a business. All wage workers deserve at least $16/hour and a universal basic income of $1000+/month. Housing, food, gas prices have risen so drastically it's impossible to keep up.
Fuck people who don't stand with their coworkers when there is a labor dispute, when there is discrimination. Fuck the notion that sharing information about your wages is illegal or will somehow get you in trouble. Fuck silence. Fuck selfishness.
Capitalism does not function without a willing workforce. I will never be willing again.
If I'm going to sacrifice my well being for anything, it will not be to line the pockets of a boss while I go hungry and lose my will to live. My sacrifices will be to fight for all people to have their basic needs met. If the government won't help us, then we will help each other.
Fuck work. Strike. Stand together. We need each other.
TLDR; Wage dispute. Fuck Work. strike. Fuck bosses. Fuck scabs.

2021.10.27 13:52 Rarely_Online James Blaine guide (1884)

As usual, I decided to play a bit more of the older era Campaign Trail mods, and I thought for which president candidate I could write a guide next. Then, I decided to go with James Blaine, who in real life lost New York by only about thousand votes, which sealed the outcome of 1884 election. That being said, I didn't find Blaine's route terribly hard in the mod.
VP: Once again there is only one choice, so John A.Logan it is.
Visits: No state visits for pre-1900s scenarios, lol

  1. Cleveland may portray himself as a man of integrity, but what about his policies? I will push for more civil service reform as President, end the spoils system, and fight big political machines.
  2. I am a proud opponent of patronage. I will fight against the spoils system to really show how fierce I am in my fight against corruption.
  3. John A. Logan is a war hero. We will contrast that against Cleveland, who upon being conscripted, paid an immigrant to serve for him.
  4. I don’t think we should focus much on my biography this election.
  5. I will commend this piece of legislation. It is only right for those with merit to get jobs rather than some well-connected loyalist.
  6. We should spend this money on internal improvements. I may be open to slight tariff reductions, but overall they protect our industry and provide necessary revenue for the government.
  7. Chester Arthur is a fine president, although I wish he did more to fight against patronage.
  8. We don’t need to address the Prohibition Party this election.
  9. We can ease on tariffs a little bit to encourage free trade between us and those countries. We can also renegotiate the Clayton-Bulwer treaty in hopes of building a canal through Panama.
  10. Of course we will support the Readjusters. They are fighting the good fight in fending off the South from Jim Crow Laws.
  11. I’m personally opposed to these, but we won’t say that out loud. That would be political suicide.
  12. We will attack Cleveland and the Democrats for dividing the country 20 years ago and being dishonest on their claims of integrity.
  13. I support these efforts. Our navy has deteriorated much from what it used to be, and we require a strong navy to exert influence abroad.
  14. These are real, obviously, and I will admit that. However, the contents have been greatly exaggerated, and this is all just stale slander from 8 years ago.
  15. It is time for us to be gentler with the Indians. We should instead try to assimilate them into American culture.
  16. (Single-choice question that hurts you)
  17. (Single-choice question that hurts you, again)
  18. I support all hardworking Irishmen and Germans in this country. These immigrants contribute to the prosperity of this country.
  19. (Single-choice question that helps you)
  20. We can make slight reductions to our tariff rates.
  21. I don't plan to address this topic.
  22. Of course I do. It is my firm belief the government should remain secular and that church and state should remain divided.
  23. I support them, yes. It helps bolster free trade between our two nations, and it helps us undermine British influence.
  24. We will apologize profusely.
  25. New York.
